Show Roosevelt Asks AFL to Patch Up Qrre! With CIO CINCINNATI, O., Oct. 3 KM President Roosevelt today appealed appeal-ed to the American Federation of Labor to resume negotiations to- i ward peace with the Congress of Industrial Organizations because "discord in any group is so harmful harm-ful to "world peace." Mr. Roosevelt said he would send a similar message to the CIO convention, later. He thanked the joint committee of AFL, and CIO representatives who adjourned peace negotiations last April for "faithful and effective service to i promote reunion and negotiate a practical and sound peace in the labor movement." Trying Days "These are trying days for the world and the international situation situa-tion also brings problems to all of us here in the United States," Mr. Roosevelt said in his message to the 5Dth annual AFL convention. "It brings problems to labor, as well as to Bankers and industrialists indus-trialists and government officials. We may well offer thanks to God for the peace we have on this continent." The Intei-national Typographical Typographi-cal union's delegates, whose organization or-ganization has been suspended by the AFL executive council for failure to pay a one-cent-a-mem-ber per month assessment into defense de-fense fund against the CIO, were invited to present their case before be-fore the AFL credentials committee commit-tee tonight.. |
