Show "news briefs" The first cattle drive of this season is scheduled to be on Saturday, Sat-urday, members of the local cattle cat-tle association reported today. The recent storms which have resulted result-ed in some snow on the ranges east of here has considerably reduced re-duced the feed for range cattle. The American Legion auxiliary : will hold a regular monthly meet- ; ing next Wednesday evening, beginning be-ginning at 8 p. m., at Memorial hall. An excellent program is arranged ar-ranged for the occasion featuring featur-ing a review of the book, "Seasoned "Season-ed Timber," by Mrs. Mae Groes-beck. Groes-beck. All members and those eleg-ible eleg-ible are cordially invited to attend. at-tend. Refreshments will be serv-j ed. "" The First ward "M" Men and Gleaners will hold their first "fireside "fire-side chat," Sunday evening beginning be-ginning at 8:30 p. m., at the home of Miss Verlaine Beardall. An interesting in-teresting program is planned and an invitation extended to all members mem-bers who desire to join, to attend. The high school sophomore class is sponsoring a big dance on Friday Fri-day night at the gymnasium. An invitation is extended to all senior sen-ior high school students to attend and students from other schools will also be invited. The dance is to be termed "Sailing in the Ruff," and everyone is promised a big time. A small charge is being made to defer expenses. Mosmer Bjarnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bjarnson of this city, has returned to the U. S. A. C, at Logan after having been employed for the summer by the forestry service of the government govern-ment at the Desert Range station at Milford. With approximately 130 Relief Society women in attendance, a program was held Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, in the First ward honoring the retiring presidency, Mrs. Ma-linda Ma-linda Sumsion; Mrs. Hattie Whitney, Whit-ney, Mrs.' May Child; secretary Gertrude Sumsion; assistant Lois Clegg, and several other retiring officers. The entertainment was under the direction of Mrs. Leona Olsen, new president; Counselor Zelma Beardall and Hilda Cherrington Cher-rington and Secretary Minerva Weight. The Utah State Nurses association associa-tion will hold their annual meeting meet-ing at Provo in the Fourth ward L. D. S.' church building. Friday and Saturday,., October 6 and 7. Graduate registered nurses and public health nurses from the state of Utah are cordially invited to attend this very important annual an-nual meeting. |
