Show U S. Withholds Recognition of fiazified Austria WASHINGTON, March 15 U.R President Roosevelt indicated in formal proclamation of the Czechoslovakian trade agreement today that this government has not yet officially recognized the union of Austria with Germany. The first hint of this government's govern-ment's attitude toward Germany's conquest of Austria was given in the proclamation which listed Austria as a separate nation. The proclamation was signed in this form despite the German ambassador's am-bassador's action in formally notifying no-tifying Secretary of State Cordell Hull of the union of Austria and Germany. No comment was forthcoming from the state department concerning con-cerning the president's proclamation proclama-tion except information that the president signed the proclamation today. The proclamation said the import im-port duties will become effective provisionally April 16. In a separate separ-ate letter to the secretary of the treasury, the president listed those countries to which the benefits of the trade concessions shall be extended. |
