Show WAGES RAISED AT PIPE PLANT A wage raise or 10 per cent has been granted to all employes of the .Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe company it was revealed today. to-day. The pay raise is the second j in less than four months, another an-other increase having been granted grant-ed last December. The raise is retroactive as of March 16. George E. Sihbett, vice president presi-dent and general manager of the company said the raise had been under consideration for some time, and is the outcome of several weeks' discussion by company representatives and the employes' committee. Rising commodity prices and living costs are responsible for the new scale. Under the new wage scale the minimum hourly wage rate is 52 cents. There is very little common com-mon labor at the plant, most of the work requiring special skill and training. There are normally about 400 men employed at the plant. Members of the employes' committee are John K. Hawk, chairman; Ralph Peters, secretary; secre-tary; Freeman Stewart, E. Rulon Greenwood and Earl Crowther. O. H. King is the company representative. |
