Show 200 ATTEND KIWANIS CLUB FARMER MEET The Kiwanis meeting tonight will be under the direction of Merle Sargent, with a fine program pro-gram arranged for the occasion. The club last Thursday evening sponsored an xceptionally successful suc-cessful Kiwanis-Farmer banquet and program, at Memorial hall, with Vern Crandall acting as toastmaster. Approximately 200 farmers from Springville and Mapleton, club members and other oth-er special guests were in attendance. attend-ance. The meeting is held annually annual-ly to promote a spirit of good will between members of the various industrial enterprises of this vicinity. J. W. Timpson, sales manager cf the Utah-Idaho Sugar company and Willard Cannon, general manager, man-ager, were the principal speakers, discussing the benefits of sugar beet raising in Utah county. E. J. Erekson of Payson, a member of the Utah Poultry Cooperative Co-operative association board of di-lectors, di-lectors, also spoke briefly on the progress of the cooperative since its establishment. The program which was under direction of the club agriculture committee composed of Maurice Bird, Oliver Dalton and Mr. Crandall, Cran-dall, consisted of a vocal duet, Glenn Holley and Freeman Bird; piano solo, Glenn Law; accordion duet, Mrs. Millie Schofield of Spanish Fork and Mrs. Mae Harris, Har-ris, Provo. An attendance award was presented pre-sented during the evening to Willis Wil-lis Strong representing the farm-, ers and to President Milton Harrison Har-rison of the Kiwanis club. |
