Show Sheriff Boyd Steps Out One of the longest terms ever served in the Utah county sheriff's office was brought to a close, Monday with the retirement of Sheriff J. D. Boyd. , First elected to office in 1920, Sheriff Boyd was since ! re-elected twice' by the voters of Uath county who placed ' implicit confidence in his sterling honesty and integrity. ! They have gained a host friends and supporters among the people with whom i.h y h:ive come in contact during the 10 years of service. Sim riff Boyd has always been known as one of the stalwart stal-wart peace, officers of the state. A firm believer in strict law enforcement, he has always hewed close to the line on questions of law and order. No matter what pressure has been brought to bear lie has never yielded to pleas for compromises com-promises with law evaders. Being of the firm conviction that prevention is better than' cure, he. has ever striven to encourage all possible moans of crime prevention and has always stood ready to cooperate with any agency devoted to the welfare of the community. Sheriff Boyd's regime at the county jail has been char-acteristized char-acteristized by a kind and humane, policy. Although no : prisoners have been "mollycoddled," a fair, and square treatment treat-ment has been accorded every person sent to the jail by the courts of the county. The sheriff has possessed the rare habit of bringing out the best qualities in a prisoner.
