Show New Substation Is Considered For Strawberry PAYSON Officials from the Utah Power and Light company, including General Manager Parry ,rom Salt Lake and Manager Huck-:ns Huck-:ns from Provo, met with the board of directors of the Strawberry Water Wa-ter Users association in Payson last week and outlined an offer to supply extra power to the association associa-tion when it was needed. Their proposition was to build a sub-station at a cost of $12,000 to 515,000, and to sell to the association associa-tion at least $6000 worth of power annually. If the waterusers cared to build the station, the amount would be reduced to $3000. This power was to be used at any time when the Strawberry plani was short, or if a shutdown t?t, repairs or oilier causes became necessary. It would make it possible pos-sible to have an even flow and they wouldn't have to draw on the Strawberry reservoir for power purposes. In exenange they offered to purchase pur-chase from the association all surplus sur-plus power which would bo available avail-able at certain seasons of the year The offer is now under advisement advise-ment and is being considered ver favorably. If it is not accepted, it will be necessary for the water users to construct a sub-plant in Spanish Fork canyon below the old one. It is felt that the waterusers are not in a position to bear that ! burden. |
