Show BOOTH PRAISES ! BASEBALL BOYS Mr. John 12. Booth, member of the National Americanism Commission Com-mission of the American Legion, which commission formulates the rules for the American Legion junior baseball, attended the state champion baseball series and reported re-ported that the junior baseball program of the Utah posts has rc-t ceived national recognition. "Over five million boys throughout through-out the country have participated in junior baseball this year," Mr. Booth stated. He congratulated State Athletic Officer Ray Adams for his splendid work in the success suc-cess of junior baseball in Utah. Mr. Booth said further of junior baseball in Utah that "the eight district champion teams that have played off the series in Provo are fine examples of the splendid types of boys that have taken part in this sport that the American Legion Le-gion is sponsoring." The state champion team, Vico Oil of Salt Lake Post No. 2, won profuse congratulations from Mr. Booth, who stated further that "the enter department should be proud of this team as the representative represen-tative of Utah at the regional conference con-ference to be held at Stockton, California." Mr. Booth stated that the Ameri-canasim Ameri-canasim Commission's object of baseball is not for trie purpose of making ball players, but to teach the boys the real principles of the great national game "which corresponds cor-responds so closely to the principle of good citizenship." |
