Show 5. L YOUTH IS KILLED HEAR MOM First Fatality of Flood is Recorded Re-corded When Car Skids On Muddy Pavement ; Early Morning Flood Hits A. F. SALT LAKE CITY, Aiifc IH (UP) Dean Johnson, 14. Utah's first flood fatality, was instantly killed early Wednesday when a car skid-, skid-, ded in deep mud left by floods ; and overturned nenr Mona. The Salt Lake youth had just accepted a ride from Joe Perkins, Spanish Fork. Other occupants of the machine were not injured. Continued, rain and several cloud bursts precipitated further floods early today. Easements of business houses in American Fork were flooded by a cloudburst at 4:30 a. m. Later in the morning the Utah Copper company com-pany plant at Arthur was partly submerged. Other towns damaged by storms early today included Bountiful, Garfield, Grantsville and Mona. The loss was confined largely to farm lands and to damage of railroad rail-road rights of way. The Bamberger electric line to Ogden was suspended between Salt Lake and Kaysville due to a waah-Jut. waah-Jut. General rains throughout the state increased the fear of further disasters despite the oiTciol weather weath-er forecast of fair weather. |
