Show SOCIETY NEVS The Fourth ward Gleaner girls entertained Tuesday evening at a party at the home of Miss Helen Wheeler with Miss Norma Averctt as assisting hostess. In attendance attend-ance were the leaders Mrs. Emma Long and Miss Mary Roylance, with Miss Erma Haymond, Miss Naomi Tipton, Miss Merlyn Hall, Mi;-: Eulalia Condie, Miss Ruth Mcndcnhall, Miss Beth Lucas, Miss Maud Hall, Mrs. Merrill Banner, Misses Naomi and Esther May-cock, May-cock, Miss Mclva Miller, Miss Mer-lone Mer-lone Sumsion and Miss Margaret Biru, class members. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Madscn and little son and daughter returned Thursday to their home at Missoula, Miss-oula, after spending two weeks with relatives and friends here. Mrs. F. C. Packard entertained at a nicely arranged shower Tuesday Tues-day evening for her sister Florence, Flor-ence, who is to be married this week. Miss Mary Boyer and Mrs. Delia Bird assisted Mrs. Packard and also Miss Eliza Packard supervised sup-ervised a number of games. A program pro-gram including piano selections by Miss Betty Boyer; vocal solos by Mrs. Isabel Brown, andl readings by Miss Eliza Packard were enjoyed. en-joyed. A dainty lunch was served to about thirty-five rcla fives and friends from whom also the guests of honor received numerous and beautiful gifts. Mis Helen Palfreyman and Miss Beatrice Wheeler loft last week to attend the world's fair at Chicago. They will also be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Murdock while there, and plan to return with them to Springville. Mrs. Murdock was formerly Miss Captola Cherrington Cher-rington of this city. Bud Sanford, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Sanford of Paul, Idaho, is visiting friends and relatives here. Mrs. Cecil Triplctt and Gordon Hoffman who have spent the past several weeks with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman have returned re-turned to their homes at Long Beach, Cal. Walter Bird of Pleasant Grove with his daughters, Evelyn and Mrs. Bell James and husband of Murray visited relatives and friends here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Coffman left Thursday by auto to attend the Century of Progress exposition at Chicago. Mrs. Elwood L: Christensen and daughter Maxine and son Haruo of Honolulu, Hawaii, were guests last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Robertson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen were missionary mis-sionary companions of Mr. and Mrs. Robertson in Japan. Mrs. Christensen also called on Mr. and Mrs. J. Emmett Bird, she being acquainted with their daughter Rcna, and husband in Honolulu. Miss Vera Hone of this city and Arthur Lewis Shepherd of Orem were married Monday in the L. D. S. temple at Logan. Mrs. Ellen Anderson and three children left Tuesday to visit relatives rela-tives and friends at Greenriver, Wyoming. She plans to be gone about three weeks. The Misses Edna Starr, Ida Hoffman, Hoff-man, Gladys Thompson and Elizabeth Eliza-beth Harmer were hostesses to the Second ward Gleaner girls at a "weiner roast" at Kelley's Grove Tuesday evening. Games were also enjoyable features. About thirty class members with their leaders Mrs. Mae Fletcher and Mrs. Martha Mar-tha Harrison attended.' Among those of Springville who spent the past week end at Fish lake were Mr. and Mrs. Will Phillips Phil-lips and son Billy, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Knudsen and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Johnson. Miss Mabel Averett, Mrs. Kate Payne, Miss Eernice Tipton, Miss Fern Bate and Miss Bcmice Fa lice li-ce tt have returned from a most enjoyable vacation trip to Bryce, Zion and the Grand canyons. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Anderson, Thomas Anderson and Jack Anderson have returned to their homes in Wyoming Wyo-ming after a visit with Mr. and Mts. LaVar Anderson and ot her relatives and friends here. They came especially to attend the Anderson An-derson reunion at Geneva on July 23. The Gleaner and Junior girls of the Second ward M. I. A. are planning plan-ning a trip to Timpanogos cave on Friday. |
