Show NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL IS APPREHENDED r In the arrest of Joseph Daly, transient, who Tuesday attempted to short change B. R. Brimhal! in f R. L. Jex store this city, Provo police report that they have in custody one of the most desperate criminals in the United States. Daly has a criminal record extending ex-tending over a period of 15 years, and has served time in half of the states of the union, according to Chief of Police Otto Birk of Provo. Daly, together with two other men camp into Jex store Tuesday afternoon. Two of the men attracted at-tracted on of the clerk's attention on the drygoods side, while the other Daly, was being served by Mr. Brimhall. He gave Brimhall a $10 bill with which to pay for a 10 cent can of soup, and then asked for money back and proferred a five dollar bill after he had received re-ceived hig money back. In the transaction he came out $5 to the good and made his getaway. As soon as he left the store Mr. Brimhall discovered thathe had been beaten, and Mr. Hawkins, manager of the store followed the men to Provo where he assisted the police department there in apprehending ap-prehending Daly. The other two made their getaway. Daly is being held pending a complete Information relative to hig criminal record. |
