Show Savant Expounds Technocracy. At Science Confab ATLANTIC CITY, N. J., Dec. 28 HIP.) Replacement of the present unit of man-hours in Industry by energy - hours, the measure of work accomplished by the machine, is inevitable, according to Prof. Walter Rautenstrauch. technocrat. Rautenstrauch made the statement state-ment in an. address delivered at today's session of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He la head of the department de-partment of industrial engineering at Columbia university. The professor offered an exposition exposi-tion of the Credo of Technology, with a plea to leaders of organized society to have regard for "the problem of organizing a civilization civiliza-tion to maintain itself." "We believe," Rautenstrauch said, "that any opinions of future trend in employment and general well-being of mankind in a high energy civilization, which are not derived from an understanding of the natures and magnitudes of the forces which condition sooial statutes sta-tutes are not competent and are unworthy un-worthy of consideration by scientific scien-tific men, The scientist is a questioner, ques-tioner, he knows no 'holy' places where Jae dare not tread." |
