Show COURTHOUSE COMPLETION IS DECIDED Commissioners Aut h o r i z e Architect to Advertise for Bids Immediately That the city nnd county building will be completed just as soon as bids can be received, contracts let and the work executed, was the unanimous decision of the city nnd county commissions at a joint meeting meet-ing held in the county commissioners' commission-ers' room Monday afternoon. The work of completing the building build-ing will consist of interior finishings, finish-ings, the installation of partitions, plastering, cement nnd marble work, completion of the plumbing and heating and other work incident to giving the interior a proper finish. It is estimated that this work will cost upwards of $150,000. Architect Joseph Nelson' was .authorized .au-thorized to prepare the specifications specifica-tions nt once and advertise for bids. However, the contract to be let will not include the front stops to the building or the installation of the elevator. These improvements will be made at a later date, according to Commissioner James T. Gardner, chairmnn of the county board. In all probability the building will be heated from the central heating plant operated by the Knight Investment Invest-ment company.. This, however, has not been determined, as the details of how the building shall be heated have not been discussed in details by the members of the commissions. It is the hope of the city and county officials to have the building completed and ready for occupancy early in 1926. When completed the building will be one of the most magnificent structures of its kind In the entire country and will furnish ample room for all of the city and county offices for years to come. It will have cost in the neighborhood of $450,000, according ac-cording to Architect Joseph Nelson, and citizens throughout the entire county have every reason to point with pride upon the progressive spirit reflected in such a building, is the general opinion of taxpayers everywhere. |
