Show MANY ATTEND ' FINE CONCERT BY SYMPHONY Utah County symphony Orchestra Or-chestra Pleases Large Audience The Utnh County Symphony Orchestra Or-chestra concert given Tuesday eyeing eye-ing in the stake tnbernacle was attended at-tended by about 2000 people, who had the privilege of hearing three of the greatest symphonies in all musical literature. Under the direction of Professor Franklin Madsen, the big orchestra opened the evening program with the rendition of the famous number,. num-ber,. "To Spring," by Edward Grieg then launched into the interpretation interpreta-tion of the great Pastoral Symphony by Beethoven. Although in order to achieve the greatest appreciation of the number, it would be necessary - to hear it dozens of times, it was evident that the audience caught the spirit of its many delightful moods and melodies, from the quiet, peaceful feeling of the first movement to the tumult of the storm ond the triumph of the song of praise as the fifth and sixth movements respectively. Rivaling the Sixth Symphony in pastoral beauty was the symphony of "The Seasons" by Tschaikawsky. Many of these melodies were familiar famil-iar to the audience and consequently consequent-ly more enjoyable. The "Ballet Russe" by Luiguini was very much enjoyed also, because of its intriguing intrig-uing and varied dance movements. "The Prodigal Son," by Parks, .and "Venetia Love Song," by Nevin, were rendered in an acceptable manner man-ner by the B. Y. U. Male Glee Club under the direction of Professor Florence Jepperson Madsen, with Marguerite Jepperson, pipe organ accompanist. |
