Show NESLEN JS DEFEATED AT SALT LAKE ELECTION a Bowman Wins Mayoralty In ( Surprise '' Result ; Activity ' Is Intense In Other Sections Sec-tions of Utah State. SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 9 Johr, P. Bowman defeated C. Clarence Neslen in the Salt Lake mayoralty race Tuesday. This result was a distinct surprise following the primary, pri-mary, at which Neslen was far in front of his opponent. Bowman received 17,795 votes, and Neslen, 15,216. Bowman took the lead from the start and held it all the way. A comic feature of the election was the casting of one vote for Jack Dempsey. i Charles N. Fehr and T. T. Burton Bur-ton were named commissioners, the latter -winning in an extremely close race. The results: Fehr, 21,-351; 21,-351; Burton, 15,219; L. C. Riter, 13,991; John S. Corless, 11,379. OGDEN, Nov. 9 Frank Francis, twice mayor of Ogden, staged a political comeback Tuesday to win the mayoralty of the city for the third tlm. He scored 6,054 votes, while Albert E. Becker, his oppon7 ent, received 5151. Fred E. Williams Wil-liams city commissioner, and Mrs. Lettie Farr Manning, city auditor. BRIGHAM CITY, Nov. 9 The .city manager form of government was victorious here Tuesday, when the Democratic nominee for mayor, Abel S. Rich, was victorious, winning win-ning by nine votes over James E. Halverson, Republican, who was strenuously opposed to the existing exist-ing method. Other officials elected were Republican with the exception excep-tion of the city recorder. LOGAN, Nov. 9. A. G. Lund-' Strom was elected mayor Tuesday, with L. P. Peterson named commissioner com-missioner and Reuben Pederson. auditor. The mayor and auditor were unopposed, and Peterson defeated de-feated the present commissioner, H. P. Neilson, for that position. Vot ing was heavy. NEPHT, Nov. 9 Only one Democrat Demo-crat was elected In Tuesday's city election here. Results: Harry Beag-ley, Beag-ley, mayor; Charles R. Jenkins, four-year term councilman; J. Walter Paxman, Lloyd Hobbs and C. W. Johnson, two-year term commissioners; com-missioners; Martha Vickers, Democrat, Demo-crat, recorder, and Mrs. Leah Chase, treasurer.
