Show THRONG JAMS COLLtGE HALL TO FEAR STIRRING MESSAGE OF BELOVED CHURCH HEAD An ovation was extended President Hober J. Grant of the L. D. S. church at the general assembly Wednesday afternono of the fourth annual Leadership week program. As President Grant entered the stand in College hall in company with Dr. F. S. Harris the large throng of people which jammed the hall arose and greeted the spiritual leader of the dominent church of Utah with a hearty and sincere applause. ap-plause. With President Grant were many of the leading officials of the church, including Dr. John A. Widtsoe and Joseph Fielding Smith of the Quorum of Twelve. It was estimated that 1300 people had crowded into College Col-lege hall, most of whom had taken their seats an hour before be-fore the beginning of the meeting. All entrances to College hall were blocked with people while more than 400 were in the library where E. S. Hinckley, secretary of the Provo Chamber of Commerce, gave the address. ad-dress. Sixty-seven stakes and one mission of the L. D. S. church are represented at the Wednesday session of the Leadership week program, according to Dirctor Lowry Nelson. The Young university mixed quartet quar-tet consisting of Dr. T. I.. Martin, I'rof. Franklin Madsen, Marguerite Jeppersou and Mrs. Norma l'oultou liulloik, rendered a selection. Elder Joseph, Fielding Smith offered of-fered the invocation. Miss Jeppersou and Professor Madsen sang a duet. In beginning his nddress. President Presi-dent Grant read the first hymn in the L. D. S. hymn bonk. "The Morning Morn-ing Break, The Shadows Flee," written writ-ten by Parley P. Pratt, which he designated a history of what was to happen following the establishment establish-ment of the church. "The marvelous growth of the youths of Zion who go out nnd proclaim pro-claim this gospel to the world." said President. Grant, "is one of the strongest testimonies to me of the truthfulness of this work." lie gave several illustrations showing the remarkable intellectual growth of young men many of whom bad but meager education when they left for the missiourield. He declared that the reason for this remarkable growth is found in the fact that the boys are working in the interest of God, to promulgate promul-gate His work upon the earth. President Grant poko forcefully concerning the Hook of Mormon, bearing his testimony of Ihe truthfulness truth-fulness of that book and citing instances in-stances to prove that the work is true. "When a boy I read the Hook of Mormon and fell in love with Nephi one of the grandest characters I have ever read about," said President Presi-dent Grant. President Grant read a report of a sermon delivered by f) Montana minister in which the minister Is quoted as saying that the Christian church of today is lurking the spiritual spirit-ual elements present in the primitive church. In ringing tones of sincerity, President Pres-ident Grant declared that Latler-dav Saints, no matter where thev mav be found, can truthfully and houe'stlv testify to the entire world that In the Church of Jesus Christ can be ' found all the elements of (he church established in the meridian of time by the Savior. '"We have a small people in our church, only about half a million." said President Grant, "but we have a converted people.
