Show 335 REGISTER IN GENEALOGY DEPARTMENT The department of genealogy and temple work at the fourth annual Leadership week is probably one of the largest of the department. Three hundred thirty-five people have registered for tin's work and are attending the classes regularly. ' Susa Young Gates and Richard B. Summerhays, both of Salt Lake City, are special lecturers in the two courses offered. Professor Thomas L. Romney, L'tah stake director of genealogy, has charge of the work. In her talks thus far this week, Mrs. Gates has emphasized the importance im-portance of training people in the art of seeking information. "Persons living in iZon, those abroad, out in the world, whether new converts or established saints, need instruction on' how to write letters to secure desired information informa-tion . Persons often refuse to answer an-swer letters seeking information because, be-cause, too often, the letters are stupid or misleading; or they refuse to answer because there is no adequate ade-quate return." Mrs. Gates also spoke upon methods meth-ods of securing genealogical information infor-mation from places from which saints have emmigi-ated. Mr. Sumerhays has emphasized the methods of procedure in the temple and the methods used in identification. The importance ot keeping accurate family records j was stressed bv him. |
