Hinckley of Provo Selected as Supervisors. j. BOARD TO ORGANIZE IMMEDIATELY : h The Utah county commissioners Monday passed a resolution reso-lution creating the Utah Lake Control Drainage district. The resolution was passed on the petition of a majority of the landholders within the new district and after the proposal had been carefully studied by the commission, according to James T. Gardner, chairman of the Utah county commission. As supervisors of the district were appointed John W. Alleman of Springville, S. W. Chipman of American Fork ; and E. S. Hinckley of Provo, for the three, two and one-year I term, respectively. The new drainnge district Is one of the preliminary steps taken by the landholders in- anticipation of C the proposed reclamation of Utah lake. The district includes 18.200 J acres of land aside from the 7,800 j ; acres of the Provo bay district. The land is situated from compro- ! mise level to eight feet above that ! point and is located from the mouth of the Jordan river south to the West mountain near Payson on tho ; east side of the lake. ; It includes land interested In five ; already operating draining dls- ; trlcts, namely Skipier Bay, Utah ',' County Drainage district No. 1, in ',' Springville, North Lake Shore. Lake. ! j Shore-Benjamin and the Benjamin ! ! districts. !; ' The drainage and reclamation sys- ! : tem, according to the resolution is ! to consist of enlarging the outlet of jl Utah lake and in maintaining in the j Jordan river proper devices for controlling con-trolling and regulating the outflow 1 from Utah lake and in taking nil j steps that are legally necessary or j ; proper to care for extra water when ; released from Utah lake so that It j may not. further damage owners of j ! land in Salt Lake county or other- j j wise; to control the water of Utah I ' lake In so far as may be deemed ad- I visnble and practicable to prevent the lands within the district from ! The supervisors will meet in tho near future to organize. A chnlr-man, chnlr-man, a secretary aud a treasurer , will be chosen from among the three supervisors. The board of trustees, or supervisors, super-visors, will have chnrge of the district dis-trict the same as a board of directors direc-tors have over a corporation. The. salary of the supervisors will lio six dollars a day while working. The full time of the supervisors will j not be needed, according to the com- 1 j mission nud they will only spend ; what time is necessary. The super- I visors are authorized to hire engi- i neers,' lawyers or agents to look j after the welfare of the district. |
