Show SHEEPMEN TO HOLD ANNUAL MEETJAN. 16 Secretary James A. Hooper Discusses Problems With , ... ; Uinta Association. The' annual' convention of the Utah Woolgrowcrs association will ,be held, in Salt Luke City, January '10, It is announced by James A. itoberts in reference to rules nnd the Uintah Grazing association and forest service officials at tho Hotel Hooper, secretary of tho organization. organiza-tion. Mr. Hooper is meeting with regulations for grnzing in the Uintah Uin-tah forest area next year. The questioin of federal control of winter ranges will be one of the main problems coming before the state association, Mr. Hooper pointed point-ed out; some sheepmen being of the opinion that better grnzing facilities can lie obtnined if the government directs the work similar to forest grazing. Winter ranges In Utah comprise vast, areas of public domain on the west deserts where grazing is about the only use to which the land can be pnt, and it is contended that this territory should be apportioned out nnd a definite grazing policy enforced. The lip and leg disease that is said to be quite prevalent in Utnh flocks will also be discussed at the meeting, said Mr. Hooper and some definite action taken in combating the disease. Tlie destruction of predatory pre-datory animals will also be considered consid-ered and a tentative law drawn up to be presented to the state legislature legisla-ture for enactment. The question of state and federal co-operation in the destruction of predatory animals is the main consideration, con-sideration, it was said. The proposition pro-position of the state taking the bides of animals when bounty is paid has been considered, as that would encourage en-courage bunting when hides were low in value and relieve the state of paying the bouniy when hides were worth more on The market than the bounty given. |
