Show E. TIDWELL f DIES AFTER HEJS HIT Garth Burch, Driver of Car, Is In Custody Awaiting Filing Fil-ing of Charges; Skull Is Fractured In the Crash. T. Monte Tidwell, 45, of American Fork, a section laborer for the Salt Lake and Utah railroad, died at a local hospital early Tuesday morning morn-ing from the effect's of a fractured frac-tured skull, sustained when he was struck Monday eve- lins by a car driven by Garth Burch. 18. of Prove The accident occurred about 6 o'clock near Twelfth West and Center Cen-ter street where the Orem tracks cross Center street. Tidwell. with other railroad employes, had just alighted from a southbound Orem and was walking across the street to board the northbound car for American Fork, when the Burch car crashel into him. He was carried to the emergency hospital maiintained in connection with the Utah county jail. Upoi? Little hope was helii 3ut lor iiis recovery wuen it wa. ascertained that he had sustained a bad basal fracture of the skull. Burch was placed under arrest and lodged in the county ja.il to await formal charges, the exact nature na-ture of which had not been determined deter-mined Tuesday noon. According to Sheriff Boyd, a small quanaity of liquor was found in Burch's car at the time of his arrest. |
