Show LEROY DIXON IS CHAIRMAN OF TAX CHAPTER Utah County Chapter of State Taxpayers' Association Is Organized. HENRY T. REYNOLDS CHOSEN VICE CHAIRMAN The Utah county chapter of the state tax-payers association was organized or-ganized Monday evening at the Provo Chamber of Commerce. i State Senator LoRny Dixon was elected permanent chairman. Henry T. Reynolds, of Springville, after declining de-clining the noniinaHon as permanent chairman, accepted the vice-chairmanship. Mr. Reynolds acted as temporary chairman in the organization organiza-tion meeting. Reed L. Anderberg was chosen secretary and J. William Knight, member at large from Utah county. Mr. Knight now is a member of the state board. "We should try to keep taxes down," observed Mr. Reynolds in opening the meeting. "Federal government gov-ernment taxes, due to the war, are; too high, and that is why local taxes should be held to the lowest possible levy." Mr. Knight, as a member of the state association, acted as official organizer, and explained the purposes pur-poses of the association. "We want to bring together all the varied interests of the county and the state," Mr. Knight said. "These would include the agricultural agricul-tural interests, big business interests and little interests, all to cooperate cooper-ate to promote the public welfare. Appropriations which will increase taxes should be studied closely, and all unnecessary expenditures must be cut out. On the other hand, all worthy appropriations should receive re-ceive the endorsement of the association." associa-tion." R. D. Wadley, county farm bureau bu-reau manager, said the farmers of the county are in hearty sympathy with any movement looking toward more careful handling of public money and lower taxes. |
