Show COOPERATION FOR JUVENILE COURTSOUGHT Schools Asked to Come to Financial Aid of Deficient State Fund With a view of obtaining the closest clos-est cooperation possible from the schools of .limit, Wasatch niul I'tah comities, Dr. t N. Jensen, state superintendent of public lustruetion and a member of the Juvenile court commission, is holding n conference in this city with George Wortlien, juvenile judge of ths dilstrict, and school superintendents this nfter- noon. That the juvenile courts of this state are struggling for a foothold without sufficient finances to meet operating expenses, and that the assistance of the schools will he necessary to carry on the work, is the opinion of Dr. Jensen. It is with a view of obtaining this assistance assist-ance today's conference is called. Among those who ore expected to be present are Judge Worthen, Probation Pro-bation Officer Erie Hyluml, Supt. H. Claud Lewis of the Provo City schools; David Corn-ley of the Alpine Al-pine district, Melvin Wilson, superintendent super-intendent of the Nebo district ; Itulph Nilsson, superintendent of the Heber City schools; Calvin Smith, superintendent of the Juab county schools and P. E. Bartlett, superintendent superin-tendent of the Tintic district. "The outlook is not entirely hopeless, hope-less, but the courts must look elsewhere else-where for relief if this work is to he continued on any scale which will render their efforts even fairly successful," suc-cessful," Dr. Jonsoi is quoted as saying. It is n regretable feature that the limited appropriation places the state in the position of having to ask for service without being' able to pay adequate compensation, yet considering the nature of the word, it is thought that certain other agencies may very well become interested in-terested in contributing towards its success." It has been intimated liy the juvenile .court commission that the "other agencies" referred to by Dr. Jensen will be the aid of the schools throughout the state. v |
