Show MANY PROJECTS OFFERED TO FARMBUREAU Educational Committee Submits Sub-mits Projects to Men's and Women's Section. An extensive program of work for 1924 for the Utah County Farm Bureau federation has been worked out by the educational committee of the organization, consisting of President Presi-dent Samuel E. Taylor, of the men's section, President Mary E. West-ring West-ring of the women's section and Joseph P. Welch, agricultural agent of Utah county. The program, which will be under the direction and co-operation- of j Mr. Welch, aims to support the com modity marketing organizations by supplying the educational work necessary to enable such organizations organiza-tions to produce the market quality i products which will satisfy the consumer con-sumer and bring tothe grower the most attractive price. Six Projects Offered.- The projects offered to the various var-ious local farm bureau organizations are ns follows: Soils, agricultural engineering, crops, livestock, rodent control and boys and girls club work. '""In this project demonstrations will also be given in the pruning and spraying of fruit trees, the method of constructing packing and storage stor-age houses and the training of crews for the grading and packing of fruits. Jersey Show . The livestock project has been divided into four sections, dairying, beef production, hogs and poultry. In the dairying section demonstrations demonstra-tions will be given in the feeding nnd care of dairy calves, dry cows and producing cows. The construction construc-tion of dairy barns will also he given attention. Testing for production records and the organization of bull associations will also be parts of this project. The animal Jersey comes under the dairying project and will he one of the most important im-portant in that section. Considerable attention will be given in the beef production section to feeding rations for fattening and the arrangement and improvement of feeding yards. Those interested in these projects will make two excursions ex-cursions during the summer, one to the rnnge with the forester sometime some-time between June 1 and 15 and the other to the Great Basin Experiment station in Ephriam canyon to study range melhods. Care of brood sow nnd litter, hog pastures and feeding for market constitutes con-stitutes the work in the hog project. Many of the farm bureau locals are interested in the poultry project whihe will include disease control, care of chicks, housing, feeding and care of pullets, caponizirvg, culling of the flock and feeding for winter eggs. Three major projects are available avail-able for the women's section of the county farm bureau during the 1024 season. The health project will be under the direction of Victoria li. Chnstensen. homo health specialist. special-ist. Mrs. Christina B. Clayton, food specialist, will have charge of the I foods and nutrition- project, while Miss Rozina Skid more will direct the clothing project. Twelve general lectures and demonstrations dem-onstrations are included in the health project. They are prenatal care, feeding the infant up to one year, how every mother can nurse her child; skeletal and teeth development, devel-opment, water as n medicine in the home, cause nnd prevention of simple colds, correction of constipation, constipa-tion, posture and shoes in relation to health, first nid, conservation of the eye, hygiene of hair and skin |
