The following are (he supposed causes of fires: Oil on stove, 1; de-jfcetive de-jfcetive flues, 4; sparks from chimney. chim-ney. 3: burninK rubbish in yard, 2; flaliron left with current on, 1; boys playing with matches, 4; sparks from engine, 1; caused from high voltage on wires, 1; unknown, un-known, 5. Amount paid to firemen for services, ser-vices, $:1C4.25. The actual amount of property saved cannot easily be estimated but in all cases it has been very much greater than the actual loss. |
