Show SPRINGVILLE CITY COUNCIL VOTESTO BOND Council Has Busy Session in Arranging for Bond Election And Fixing Tax Levy The Springville city council In regular session Tuesday evening voted unanimously for a bond election elec-tion to be held in the near future for the installing of a new water system and for the installation of another unit at the electric power plant at Hobble Creek canyon. The bond is to be In the total amount of $75,000. Sixty thousand dollars for the water system and $15,000 for the electric power plaut unit. The Palmer Bond and Mortgage company of Salt Lake City had a representative at the meeting who offered the bonds at 5 per cent. The matter of selecting the bonding company com-pany and carrying out the details of holding the election was left with the committees on electric lights nnd city water works with power to act. According to the plan the Birch springs which already belong to the city, will be brought into the city system making the city water supply sufficient to take care of the many now who have not had any water in the hydrants for nearly a year nnd also to take care of the incrense in population of the future. According to the record of the city power plant, the plant has more than paid for itself beside giving the city free lights for the streets and bringing in some revenue. Another importnnt act of the council coun-cil was fixing the tax levy for the ensuing year. The levy fixed was as follows: Sinking fund for street paving district o. 1, bonds l1 mill; sinking funds for water works bond 1 mill ; sinking fund for library bond, 1 mill; contingent expense, 5 mills; street and walks repairs nnd improvement, 2 mills ; water works maintenance and improvements improve-ments 114 milsl; library maintenance, mainten-ance, 1 mill; public buildings and town hall 14 mills; interest on bonded indebtedness, 1 mill; total 15 Vi mills. The total assessed vnluntion of the city fo rthe year 1925 is $1,-730,520 $1,-730,520 an increase of $54,752 above last year. The present Valuation is divided as follows, $330,071 corporation cor-poration and the remaining $1,399,-855 $1,399,-855 personal and real property. |
