Show CONTRACTOR LAIDTO REST George W. Straw Buried In Evergreen Cemetery ; Died at Salt Lake Hospital Funeral services were held In the Springville First ward chapel Sunday Sun-day nfternoon, June 14, for George Washington Straw, 52, who died from the effects of a cancer in the head, at a Salt Lake hospital June 10. The chapel was crowded to overflowing over-flowing by the many relatives and friends. The floral offering was large and beautiful. The service was in charge of Bishop J. E. Bird. The speakers were J. F. Bring-hurst Bring-hurst of the Kolob stake presidency and Patriarch O. B. Huntington. A vocal trio was given by Miss Jennie Erickson, Mrs. May Senior and Glen Allan. Glen Allan and Mrs. May Senior sang a duet and Miss Jennie Erickson rendered a vocal solo. The invocation was offered by Orson Or-son Hutchinson and the benediction by Thomas It. Greener of the Ward bishopric. Interment was in, the Evergreen cemetery, under the direction of A. Y. Wheeler, undertaker. Mr. Straw was born in Springville, April 30, 1873, and had been a resident resi-dent of Springville till the time of his death. For many years he was a successful railroad construction contractor. Surviving are five children, George, Luella, Charles, Emma and William Straw; also five brothers, Nephi, James and Hyrum Straw of Springville, Alma Straw of Provo and Enoch Straw of Idaho. |
