Show Brave Enough to Die "Bravest of the brave" they called Marshal Ney, who led lien into the "glory" of battle. Decorations or memorials go o those who rescue a person from drowning, or snatch a child from before a rushing train, or to the captain who is last to leave his sinking ship. Different the bravery of Sergt. Dick Latham, and no public acclaim for it. Last Saturday night, for the second time within a year, a bomb was found in San Francisco's Hall of Justice. The first one exploded and tore things to pieces. When- this recent re-cent one would explode, none of its discoverers could tell. Sergt. Latham told eveiybody to stand aside, took the bomb int oa room, sat down at a table, alone, and calmly took the infernal machine apart. Not many men are brave enough to sit down with death and calmly defy the odds against him. Duty doesn't have to knock twice on Sergt. Latham's door. |
