Show BUFFALO MEAT TO BE SOLD IN UTAH COUNTY Provo, Springville and Spanish Span-ish Fork Butchers Buy Carcasses. The younger generation of Provo, Springville and Spanish Fork, as well ns their grand-parents will have the opportunity of eating buffalo buf-falo meat shortly nfteh the holidays, it is announced by G. n. West of the TT. S. biological survey who was in Provo and Springville Thursday. Approximately 200 head of buffalo buf-falo from the government herd at the Flathead Indian reservation in Montana are1 to be sold alive or slaughtered for the butcher trade and sent out to anyone wishing to purchase the animals, Mr. West says. William Randolph Hurst has placed an order for 40 head to stock his California -ranch ana smaller numhorsfrtre being placed in parks. From a herd of 41 animals placert on the reservation in 1900, by the. America ni Bison society, the bora now numbers over 700 head, it is said and the entire- band has been kept" in splcdid shape, especially for the thinning out that is to be made the first of the year. The animals were fed hay up until July first and are being well enred for this fall. The head and skin will be left on the animals when they an shipped to the local butchers so that the people may se them in theli native state as near as possible. It is expected that the dressed carcases car-cases will weigh from 500 to 1000 ; pounds. Smaller communities are being given the chance to share ths meat which is said to be very fine, as the large concerns are not being be-ing allowed to get a monopoly on the business. |
