Show PAYSON WOMAN' BADLY INJURED PAYSON Mrs. George A. Peery, CO, prominent Payson woman, is in a serious condition at the Payson general hospital, following severe injuries sustained when she was struck by an automobile at 9 o'clock Monday evening. Mrs. Peery was crossing the street at Main and Utah Avenue, when she was struck by a .car driven by G. 'Butler, who lives near Spanish Fork. The motorist stopped liis auto instantly, and none of the wheels passed over the elderly woman's wo-man's body. Mrs. Peery was removed to the Kchramm-J(lin-sftn-l-lugt'-tore-,-and Dr. L D. Stewart was summoned. Examination showed several broken ribs, and Mrs. Peery was badly bruised all over her body. Dr. Stewart expressed the opinion that the car must have been going verj' slowly, or the woman would have been run over, instead of only being knocked down. Mrs. Peery is known to be hard of hearing, and it is believed probable that this caused the accident. Remains Unconscious Mrs. Peery remained tmconscious Monday night, causing the fear of Internal injuries. A more thorough examination was made today, and in the mean-lime, mean-lime, her recovery remains doubtful. doubt-ful. Page Peery, her son and a member mem-ber of the police department, was called to the scene of the accident soon after it happened last night, nnd the unexpected discovery that his mother was the accident victim vas a pathetic incident- Mrs. Peery is also the mother of George "Red" Peery, star pitcher for the Providence baseball club of the Eastern league. |
