Show ALPINE ART EXHIBIT DRAWS LARGE CROWD Reviewer. Gives. Praise. To Students Who Show Exceptional Excep-tional Talent ASrEN GROVE, Aug. 17. More tlinn one hundred fifty people assembled as-sembled for the art exhibit which was held at Aspen Grove Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Many of these people had come to the Alpine Summer Sum-mer school especially to enjoy the exhibit and to hear Prof. Lee F. Randolph's discussion of modern art. '- Seventy eight paintings, all produced pro-duced at the Alpine Summer school, were 'in the exhibit. Jinny of them, according to Professor Randolph, were exceptionally well done. ,cl.-?have been surprised and de-ligutwl de-ligutwl with Utah," Professor Randolph Ran-dolph declared, "because' I have found a number of. earnest workers in the field of art ,jvho are giving their best efforts 'to the 'work. I have heen delighted, to, with the unusual un-usual ; scenery found here.. It is unique and inspiring. 'I shall return to Sari Francisco and my artist friends with the story that here in-Utah in-Utah there are men and women who are attempting to carry on the art traditions of America and to really create new and better things." Mr. Randolph said that he epect-ed epect-ed the west to give America some genuinely American art. He declared; de-clared; that the east is so close to Europe and is filled- with so many masterpieces from the old world that it will he hard for eastern 1 America to break away from European Euro-pean standards and ideals. |
