Show Motorists may read while road is cleared Motorists halted by the construction con-struction at Moark Junction in Spanish Fork Canyon, will have an opportunity to brush up, on highway construction progress while waiting for rocks and debris to be cleared. A four-page phamphlet entitled, en-titled, "We Are Sorry To Inconvenience In-convenience You," will be distributed dis-tributed by flagmen to the detained de-tained motorists. The Utah State Department of Highways presently has a $700,000 construction project underway along US Highway 6 & 50 from Moark Junction east to Castilla. The project extends four miles and consists of straightening curves, widening widen-ing the road and construction of an overpass to the Cynamid Explosives Company. The contractor con-tractor is J. M. Sumsion & Sons Company of Springville. Supervising construction in this area for the Utah State Department of Highways is Earl A. Johnson, District Engineer, En-gineer, American Fork. Project Engineer is R. Karl Jones. "Since we will be using explosives ex-plosives rather extensively in this area, we will be halting traffic at both ends of the project for a short time," stated stat-ed Mr. Johnson. "So that motorists mo-torists will have something to do, we are having our flagmen pass out a four-page pamphlet describing the project and the reason for the delay. We feel that this way the motorist' will be less impatient with necessary neces-sary delays on the highway and will be a safe driver." The four-page pamphlet, printed in two colors, was printed by the Information Division, Di-vision, Utah State Department Depart-ment of Highways. Illustrated by Herbert M. Fehmel, Illustrating Illus-trating Engineer, the pamphlet shows a line drawing of the project, the location of the U. S. Interstate Highway System, a halftone drawing of the Interstate In-terstate System through No. Utah County and construction equipment in operation. Out-of-state motorists will also be given a state highway map and other tourist material. |
