Show Scouts urged to apply for jamboree trip The Utah National Parks Council is now receiving applications ap-plications for the sixth National Na-tional Jamboree for the , Boy Scouts of America which will be held from Fridaay, July 17, 1964, through Thursday, July 23, 1964.Valley Forge, Pennsylvania Penn-sylvania where George Washington's men camped and struggled to rebuild their strength in the winter of 1777 is the place. The Utah National Parks Council has been given 260 places (240 boys and twenty adults) of the approximate 50, 000 who will attend the giant jamboree. Allotments for the Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson, and Santaquin areas have been set at 34 boys and three leaders. There, will be one leaader from Springville-Mapleton Springville-Mapleton and 10 boys; also Santaquin-Tintic will have 4. "As this is the smallest quota quo-ta this council has ever been given for a National Jamboree, we expect the 260 spots to be filled by the summer of 1963," stated Floyd Loveridge, chief scout executive. Requirements are as follows: A boy must be a registered Scout, at least twelve years of age as of October 1, 1963, and First Class on or before July 1, 1964. Explorers must have a minimum of six months tenure by January 1, 1964, or have been transferred directly from a Boy Scout Troop. Registered Reg-istered leaders must meet the minimum age requirements for similar respossibilities and have demonstrated leadership, camping and administrative abilities. Each participant must have adequate camping equipment to assure his ability to care for himself, and a .cooperative .co-operative attitude toward his fellow participants. The reservation fee for boys will be $35 and adults, $25. The total fee has not been set, but will be between $400 and $450 depending on transportation, transporta-tion, hotels, sight seeing and related expenses.
