Show Board discusses conventions, legislature, other problems the Society of Superintendents, and State Department representatives repre-sentatives at the American Fork High School on Feb. 5. He reported that out of the conference come a unanimous resolution to persuade members mem-bers of each educational association as-sociation not to attend possible possi-ble ionventions or meetings suggested by the Utah Education Educa-tion Ass. at which the current cur-rent legislative school program pro-gram would be discussed. A motion was made by Al-fonzo Al-fonzo Kester, seconded by Dr. Wm. H. Sorensen, that a letter let-ter be sent to the Nebo Education Educa-tion Assn. President, John Jensen, Jen-sen, encouraging all of Nebo's teachers to not plan to attend any meeting called during regular reg-ular school days. Motion unanimous. unani-mous. The Superintendent requested request-ed authorization to call for bids on fertilier and buses for the District, and seats for the little theatre and auditorium for the Spanish Fork High School. Authorization granted. because of a recent cold snap through tht last two weeks of December, curtailing work. The Board granted a one-month extension of time for completion comple-tion of the project with the understanding that, if necessary, neces-sary, the Board could say which phase of the project should be completed first. The Superintendent presented information to the Board concerning con-cerning the Springville High School Art Gallery addition and called attention to editorials editor-ials in the Deseret News and tht Springville Herald to the project. He also furnished information informa-tion concerning present and proposed programs for financing financ-ing Utah public schools and an official statement concerning concern-ing the President's Annual He-port He-port for 1962 of the Nebo Credit Union. He stated that the Credit Union fulfilled a felt need and performed a great service to over one-half of the personnel of the District Dis-trict and that we expect continued con-tinued expansion of the program. pro-gram. Crandall reported re-ported to the Board the highlights high-lights of a meeting of school board presidents, members of The Board of Education of Nebo School District met in regular called session on Monday, Mon-day, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in the District office in Spanish Fork. Pres. Leo A. Crandall was in charge of the meeting. The Clerk furnished each member of the Board a budget report covering the period July 1, 1962 to Jan 31, 1963, showing show-ing 54,140,338.00 budgeted, $2,-242,375.01 $2,-242,375.01 expended and $1,-897,962.99, $1,-897,962.99, or 46 unexpended. The Superintendent also furnished fur-nished each member of the Board with a statement of Building Construction dated Feb. 8, 1963. It showeu total contracts of $465,631.10 on Phase II of the Spanish Fork High School, with payments to date amounting to $116,447.10 leaving a balance of $34-9,184. The Superintendent furnished each member of the Board with a Statement of Funds dated Jan. 31, showing a bank balance of $437,818.29, with outstanding warrents as of Jan. 31 in the amount of $121,-156.86, $121,-156.86, leaving a balance of funds available of $316,661.43. At the request of members of the Board of Education that time be spent discussing conventions, con-ventions, members of the Board expressed opinions relative to conventions in general. The final consensus of opinion was that conventions constitute the greatest single means of interchange inter-change of administrative theory and practice that we have in America today. . The Superintendent reported that reservation had been made for all members of the Board to attend the National School Boards Convention at Denver, which will convene on April 27. The Superintendent presented present-ed a letter from Rosenlof, Prtstwich and Healy requesting an extension of time on the Spanish Fork High School construction con-struction program, Phase II, |
