Show Coach Hal Jensen, who is in his first jyear as head basketball basket-ball coach at the Springville High School, will give the home town folks the first glimpse of his 1962-63 basketball basket-ball team this Saturday night, Dec. 1. The Red Devils will : oppose the state football cham-piqns cham-piqns of this year, the American Am-erican Fork Cavemen. Two games will be played Saturday beginning at 6:15 with the Junior Varsity club meeting in the initial contest. The main game will begin at 8 p.m. Thanks to the Sophomores, this year's club is one to be looked up to in comparison with those of the past year or so. These greenlings are com- ing along and will be counted j on to fill first string shoes 1 during the season. On the squad from the sophomore ml 1 ranks are Bill Allred, Richard . Thorpe, Ronald Bird and Gary , Nielson. Juniors on the club are Neil Strong, Richard Mi-; Mi-; ner, Judd Harward. Roger Reid, Mike Groneman, Doug Strong, Rolan Senior and Dennis Den-nis Engle, are the Senior on the squad. All four sophomores sopho-mores are over the 6 foot 2 inch mark. In connection with the Saturday Sat-urday game, the Springville-Mapleton Springville-Mapleton Athletic Round Table organization is selling season tickets as a boost for the basketball bas-ketball program at the high school. These tickets can be purchased at the Springville Sport Shop. The Red Devils have a vigorous vig-orous pre-season schedule. They open Friday night at the new Clearfield high school, then meet A.F. here Saturday. They play again next Wed., Dec. 5 at Bingham. |
