Everyone ; Fiets Bien Club hears candidates Short talks were made by Democratic candidates, Mark Boyack, Thelma Smurthwaite and John Murdock, at the meeting of the Fiets Bien club Thursday evening, when they met with Mrs. Max Thorn. Dr. Lyman Smart of BYU was the moderator and also the principal speaker. The meeting concluded with refreshments. Effan Bee Club installs officers Effan Bee club installed new officers and paid tribute to the retiring president at a meeting Thursday evening of last week, at the home of Mrs. LaDore Goodsell. Mrs. Verlaine" B. Swensen, who served as president the past year, was presented with a gift of appreciation. New officers were installed as fol-lows: Mrs. Jean Ivory, president Mrs. Harriet Burt, Mrs. Shirley Nielson, secretary-treasure- r. VOTE NOVEMBER 6th Paid Political Adv. by the Gardner Committee for Senate Frank O'Brien, chairman Home Culture Club hears democrat Dave Greenwood, American Fork business man, candidate for county .commission- - r er, on the Democratic ticket, addressed the Home Culture club meeting Friday afternoon, in the first of two public af-fairs meetings. The meeting was held at the Riverside Country club with a 1 o'clock luncheon served first. Hostesses were Mrs. E. V. Boorman, Mrs. John Judd and Mrs. J. F. Wingate. President Catherine D. Wills introduced the speaker who ex-plained how the Democratic candidates were selected, to represent education, law, latyor, farmers and business. He list-ed labor shortage a few years back and lack of water, as reasons for industry not com-ing to this area. He also listed candidates on the Democratic ticket and stated that in his opinion all good men were not in one party. Smith of Oreni. November 2 wedding planned by Bonnie Jean Damico, R. E. Smith Wedding bells November 2 will herald tlie marriage of Miss Bonnie Jean Damico and Ralph E. Smith in the Second-Eight- h Ward Church. The charming young bride is a daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Damico of this city and Mr. Smith's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Neal E. Kershner of Orem. The marriage ceremony will be followed by an open house reception for relatives and friends from eight until ten p.m. in the ward amusement hall. The couple plan to make their home in Salt Lake City. The bride-elec- t, a graduate of Springville High School and LDS Seminary, is presently attending beauty school in Salt Lake City: Mr. Smith is a graduate of high school at Orem and is J employed at Hercules. Famiiy dinner marks birthday John A. Fox was honored recently on the occasion of his 79th birthday with a family dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Fox. Seventeen were in attendance including, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Fox of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Evans of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Ed For-she- e, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Sch-oute- n, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Fox. Mary Boyer and Mr. and Mrs. John A. Fox and the host and hostess. Club group hears noted author Mrs. Virginia E. Sorensen, well-know- n author, who is visiting in Springville with her father, C. E. Eggertsen, was the guest speaker at the meet-ing of the We Readers club Thursday evening. Mrs. Merle Packard was hostess. Mrs. Sorensen explained how she selected her .characters for her books and told other de-tails of her writing career and traveling experiences. She also answered questions from mem-bers on writing. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. Vera Stokes, president. Mrs. Mary Bird introduced the speaker. Attending as special iguests were: Mrs. Odessa Chi-ld, Mrs. Marell Banner and Mrs. Hattie Williams and Jan-et G. Packard. 20-3- 0 Ann hold busy session At a meeting of the 20-3- 0 Anns at the home of Colleen Van Ausdale final registra-tion notices were written and mailed to young people who have turned 21 since last elec-tion. Halloween decorations were also made for the group's costume dance to be Satur-day night at the Police Hall in Provo. |
