Harness, May 31 at the Kolob stake house. President Leo A. Crandall of the Springville stake perform-ed the ceremony. A reception for the newly-wed- s followed the ceremony on the patio of the church with a picturesque garden-lik-e set-ting. The wedding party stood in front of a white picket fence with large baskets of gladioli and carnations at either end, tied with white sa-tin bows. For the very special occasion the bride chose an exquisite gown created by Mrs. Hugh Roylance of Mirro Mist Floren-tine, imported from France, with Chantilly lace apliqued down each side of an inverted pleat and across the bodice with sequins and pearls thru-ou- t the applique. A chapel train enhanced the full skirt. Her veil was bridal illusion at-tached to a crown of lace and seed pearls. Her bridal bouquet was of red garnet roses and white stephanotis attached to a white bible. Matron of honor was Mrs. Ronald Boulter, sister of the bride. Bette Snelson was maid of honor with bridesmaids be-ing Ann Palfreyman, sister of the bride; Pat Ostler, Sally Peay, Linda Thorn, Jana Lee Whiting, Nadine Boyack, Pat Cherrington, Sherry Palfrey-man, sister. Best man was Clarence Hay-ni- e. Attendants were dressed in red and white checked ging-ham with puff sleeves, full skirts trimmed with white ric rac and white gloves and shoes to compliment. Each held a long stemmed red rose. The bride's mother's dress was a toast color shantung sheath. The groom's mother wore a beige and white striped cotton. Greeting guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. David Har-ness and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Palfreyman. At the guest re-gister were Sharon Ellis and Judy Tipton. Serving were Carol Frazier, Linda Erickson, LaRue Savage, Janet Bird, Karen Nielson, Loma Sanford. Janet Wimmer, Lynette Thorpe were napkin servers. The wedding cake was beautifully done in white with red roses and was cen-tered on a revolving stand. The table was covered with a white satin skirt trimmed with red roses. Bubbling red water in brandy sniffers on mirrors de-corated the small serving tab-les. The young couple honey-mooned in southern Utah and are making their home in Springville. ' ; B - v f Shower honors Carol Eves who weds Fri. A lovely shower honoring Carol Eves on her forthcoming marriage was given at the home of a girl friend, Marietta Clyde last Thursday evening. Games were played during the evening and a bride's book was made. Following a lovely lunch served by the hostess, the bride-to-b- e opened her gifts. As each was opened, the ribbon was tied in her hair and left for the groom-to-b- e to untie. Carol, who is the daughter of Mrs. Howard Johnston, will be married to Gary Giles in the Manti Temple Friday, June 16. A reception will be held in their honor .that night in the Kolob stake house. Reception honors newlyweds following wedding ceremony Miss Rosalie Hanson, charm-ing daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Golden Hanson, exchanged vows with Thomas C. Bardin last Friday, June 2, with Bish-op Wm. J. Pratt of the Sixth ward performing the ceremony before immediate family mem-bers and close friends. Immediately following the marriage, the young couple was honored with a reception Bishop and Mrs. Wm. J. Pratt and Mr. and Mrs. Edward For-she- e. At the guest book was Nancy Strong and Barbara Huntington. In charge of serving was Mrs. Mays Anderson assisted by Ann Livsey, Ann Roylance, Bonna Jackman and Carolyn Bowles. In charge of gifts was Mrs. Dean Averett asisted by San-dra Palfreyman, Nancy Miner and Carta Rae Mortensen. The newlyweds are making their home in Torrance, Calif., where Mr. Bardin is employed. in the Kolob stake house. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bardin of this city. Both are graduates of the Springville High School and Seminary. For the important occasion, the bride chose a full-leng- th gown of chantilly lace over bridal satin. The fitted bodice featured a scalloped neckline with long lily point sleeves. A tiara of lace and pearls caught her veil of bridal illusion, and she carried a bouquet of yel-low roses and stephanotis cen-tered with an orchid. Attending the bride was Miss Nina Mae Holley, maid of honor; Miss Sonia Lynn, Miss Charleen Lewis and Miss Mar-iann- a Hanson, sister of the bride, as bridesmaids. They wore matching dresses of yel-low brocade taffeta and car-ried bouquets of white daisies. Miss Elaine LeFevre and Miss Debbie Sporleder were flower girls and they wore yellow brocade dresses trimmed with lace and carried baskets of white daisies. Mother of the bride chose a rose lace sheath and the mother of the bride-groom chose a blue lace sheath with matching corsages of yel-low rose buds and white dai-sies. Bill Hunt stood as best man. Receiving the guests were Crib (Corner Girl to Glen and Ruth Biggs Roundy June 13 at Utah Val-ley Hospital. Boy to Monte and Mary Lou Snow Allman June 12 at Utah Valley Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Met-ca- lf and son Sam, just return-ed from 10 days at Odessa, Texas where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Metcalf and son Stephen and daughter Kathy. They reported the town had grown from 9,000 to 90,000 in just the past few years be-cause of an oil boom. They also visited Sand Hills monument and park, Carlsbad Caverns in New Mevico; Arches Nat. Mon-ument, Mesa Verde and sev-eral other places in Arizona. Springville ladies attend Miami meet Mrs. Nellie W. Condie re-turned Monday from the Gen-eral Federation of Women's Clubs' international conven-tion held in Miami, Florida. She was a state representative and is the Art Chairman assisting the national chairman. The convention was held at Hotel Fontaine Fleau from June 5 to 9. Also attending from Spring-ville were Helen Wheeler, Mary Schwartz and Ruby Christen-sen- . Mrs. Condie joined Helen and Mary and the three ladies went to Nassau in the Baha-mas for the weekend where they saw a real British cele-bration staged in honor of Queen Elizabeth's birthday. Full military parade and a celebration similar to our 4th of July events were carried out. They also visited many tourist attractions and took several boat trips while there. Mrs. Condie returned home by jet plane while Helen and Mary continued a tour of the east. Love makes everything lov-ely; hate concentrates itself on the one thing hated. George Macdonald. p. They visited with Capt. Glenn Frand-sen, their son, at Sunnymead, and with Mrs. Frandsen's bro-ther, Dr. Hial Hales and other relatives and friends in South-ern Calif. Cousins enjoy day of activity Cousins' annual party was held at the home of Mrs. Edith Miner last Saturday, June 10. At high noon a delicious hot dinner was served and later the group made recordings of his-tories and spent the remain-der of the time visiting. Attending the party were: Mrs. Grace T. Nielson of Ka-ma- s; Mrs. Marian Tuckett and Mrs. Albert Aitken of Lake Shore; Mrs. Reba Allred, Lehi; Mrs. Marie Bishop, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Louise Wiscombe, Pleasant Grove. Special guest was Mrs. Vida Shepherd of Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Rife and two sons enjoyed a vaca-tion during the past week at Yellowstone. While there they reported seeing an especially large ' number of bear and a huge grizzly and three cubs, that is not frequently seen in the park and one which the rangers were spending sleepless hours trying to drive out of the park area because of its viciousness. Mr. and Mrs. Omar Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Oldroyd, Mr. and v Mrs. W. L. Snelson and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight and their families, en-joyed a few days' vacation during the past week into the southern part of the state. They toured Capitol Reef area via Hanksville, traveled over the Boulder Mountain and Hell's Backbone drive to te and to Bryce Canyon, where they visited with Larry Weight who is employed there for the summer. The Weight's and Hansens went on to Grand Canyon and Glen Can-yon dam at Page, Arizona, while the Snelsons and Old-royd- 's took a side trip to Fish Lake for some fishing before returning home. |
