There will be a visiting time for parents to meet teachers and appointments may be made for discussions of specific problems. Also memberships will be received during the evening by Mrs. Fred Erick-son, Erick-son, membership chairman. PTA scholarship Also at the meeting contributions contri-butions will be accepted for the annual PTA scholarship offered of-fered qualifying senior stud-?nts. stud-?nts. Selection of the student to whom the scholarship is given, giv-en, is made from lists supplied by the teachers of promising students who desire to become teachers. Students are required to obtain letters of recommendation recommen-dation and they are interviewed interview-ed by PTA officers before a selection is made. The $200 scholarship is made possible only by contributions contri-butions and the number offered offer-ed depends on the amounts donated, do-nated, according to Clark Stewart, senior high school counselor, who assists with the project. The scholarships will continue con-tinue through college providing the student qualifies each year. Upon graduation, the student receiving the scholarship is required to teach at least one year in Utah. Already at least one student is taking advantage of a Springville PTA scholarship and it is the hope of PTA leaders lead-ers to award more than one I this year. |
