A highlight of feir visit in Elberta was a rtv ?iven by a group of their Sends who were former neigh- 1 rs of Luis wnen he lived ln Lada with his parents which ,hev called a "welcome home" Trtv for him. J going to Lake Louise and other points of interest in British Columbia. They went by steam- ' boat across the strait from Van Couver to Nanima and enjoyed a bus tour of the City of Victoria. Vic-toria. Returning by way of Washington, Wash-ington, Oregon and California, they visited the red wood forest, for-est, San Francisco and Sacramento Sacra-mento in California. In Nevada they toured Reno and visited the Lehman Caves. During their trip they covered five thousand interest packed miles. Home after a delightful trip to the Northwest are Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mendenhall. They went by way of southern Idaho into Oregon where they enjoyed enjoy-ed the World Fair and Centennial Centen-nial at Portland. They were especially es-pecially impressed with the wonderful display of roses in the rose garden at Portland with varieties from all over the world. After spending three days at Portland they traveled to Vancouver, Van-couver, Washington returning south through Salem, the capital capit-al of Oregon and on down the western coast into California. They toured San Fra.ncisco and Stockton and visited with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dave DeYoung with whom they spent four days. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Binks of Bell Gardens, Calif., were the honored guests at a family supper sup-per Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks. Covers were laid for the above mentioned and Mr. and Mrs. Royal Binks of Springville, Spring-ville, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Binks of Provo, Mrs. Zina Dibble Dib-ble and Mrs. Hannah Binks of Mapleton. Busy Loafers 4-H Club met May 27 and organized, choosing Linda Johnson as president; Venice Christensen, vice president; presi-dent; Linda Freeman, secretary and Connie Whiting, reporter. Six meetings have followed in which the girls have made their own shortie night gowns and are starting on school dresses. Directors of the group are Margie Warren and Mary Ellen Edmunds. Herbert K. Miner Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert K. Miner, has enlisted in the Navy under the buddy program with David Jerry Wolsey of Springville. They will receive their recruit training together and will receive re-ceive their recruit leave at the same time. Both young men are Springville High School graduates of 1951. "A Trip Around the World" was the theme of the program presented by the girls of the Mapleton Second Ward home-builders home-builders and their mothers on Tuesday in the ward recreation hall. Class directors, Mrs. Max Hall, Mrs. John Spencer, Mrs. Daryl Hutchings and Mrs. Charles Hatfield were in charge of arrangements. Linda and Allan Hall are at home after a tonsil operation in the Spanish Fork Hospital. They are children of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hall. The home of Mrs. Phil Whitney Whit-ney was the meeting place of girls belonging to the Sewing Clover 4H Club last week. The time was spent in sewing on house slippers after which refreshments re-freshments were served by Ann Court and Nola Thompson. Carolyn Everett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Everett, has gone to San Francisco where she will be employed for the summer. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Lyman and Mrs. Sally Potts are Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Potts and family from California. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Johnson had several guests at their home Sunday. Among them was their son Claude Johnson from Kearns, also Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lee of Lindon, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith of Tooele and Mrs. Nellie Reading of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Leonard Harris for several days have been their nephews Johnny Harris and Dean Pierpont of California. |
