Show Annual Poppy Day Arrives Saturday It is time again come Saturday Satur-day to wear the little red poppy in memory of those of the armed forces who have lost their lives and for those disabled dis-abled ones confined in veterans hospitals. The disabled veterans make the poppies in their wheelchairs and beds and sell them to the Legion Auxiliary members of which in turn ask the public pub-lic to buy them each Saturday before Memorial Day. The Springville unit has 1500 to sell. It is surprising what the making of a few hundred poppies pop-pies means to the veterans and how they look forward to that (Continued on Page 8, Col. 5) Annual Poppy Day Arrives Saturday (Continued from Page One) time of year when they can earn a few pennies, say members mem-bers of the auxiliary who have visited the hospitals when the poppies are being made. Chairman of the Day in Springville is Mrs. Marva Davis Da-vis and Mrs. Barbara Hafen, who with other members of the Auxiliary will be on the street Saturday asking everyone to buy a poppy. Also the poppy posters which were outstanding in the poppy poster contest sponsored by the Auxiliary, will be displayed in the stores to remind everyone of the annual Pappy Day. |
