Sp.-2 Heber Cook, ' has been given an honorable discharge from the 116th. He has completed com-pleted 6 years service with the National Guard. He has instructed in-structed many classes that have been given in the unit. He was training assistant to the Co. Commander last year, responsible for correlation of the instructors and training criteria for the training program. pro-gram. He has contributed much of his own spare time to the unit, which is a characteristic of a good leader. At the time of his discharge he was a squad leader for 2nd Lt. Le-land Le-land Ford's 1st platoon. Last Thursday night the 116th had a 22 rifle shooting match with Battery C, 145th Field Artillery Bn. at . Spanish Fork. Spanish Fork won the team honors with 228. points to 226.4 points for the 116th. The absence of Sp3 Duane Hone was felt, by the loss. He is a consistant shooter who probably would have brought the team average up the extra 1.7 points that the 116th needed need-ed to win. The 116th did have the highest individual score of the shoot however, so it wasn't a complete loss. The 116th will tackle the Artillery Battery from Spanish Fork again, this Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Springville Armory, to try to even up the score. |
