Show Reports from the meadow lands surrounding Chester are to the effect that the grasshopper situation situa-tion there is very serious indeed, and that the visitation of the pests last year was no comparison whatever what-ever to this year in point of numbers num-bers in that particular locality. The farmers are alive to the situation situa-tion and are making a finish fight against them. They have become so plentiful and the number killed each day so numerous that the tal-liers tal-liers have quit counting them by the bushel or pound, but tally them up now by the ton. Between seven and eight tons have been killed and brought in this week. What the result will be cannot be told now, although the farmers are quite hopeful yet that they can handle them. |
