I Football I Until the rules of football have boon reformed to meet the views of tho board of overseers of Harvard the game Is absolutely prohibited at tho university of Cambridge I Tho American line steamer Now York sailed from England Jan 20 having hav-ing on board tho New Zealand Rugby football team which was accorded a great sendoff It Is said that t the team probably will play nn exhibition game at Now York against an all Canadian team anti another at Sun Francisco against the Vancouver play ors Football In Its present form was abolished In tho West by time conference confer-ence of the representatives of the Big Nine colleges that met at Chicago Chi-cago The conference devoted Its entire en-tire time to confederation of the conduct con-duct of time game and did not attempt to change or recommend any changes in tho rules of the game It decided however that If the amalgamated rules committee did not adopt rules satisfactory to tho conference colleges col-leges that these colleges would go ahead and appoint a rules committee of their own and pjay under the rules adopted by this committee While tho findings of tho conference are merely In the nature of recommendations to their respective colleges It Is reasonably reason-ably certain that tho colleges will adopt these findings almost unanimously unani-mously When they are adopted the American gamo of football will not be recognized If these findings are not adopted by the various western colleges col-leges the body then advises that the game bo suspended for at least two years according to the Idea advocated by Wisconsin nnd voiced by Prof F J Turner of that Institution
