CHRISTMAS reason cheer was dispensed dis-pensed to COO children of the Sunday Sun-day school of the Cathedral of the , Madeleine and their friends at the cathedral yesterday afternoon through the efforts of the Catholic Young Toadies' Sodality. Five hundred stockings stock-ings filled with candy, nuts, oranges, popcorn pop-corn balls and picture cards Ave re given to the children by the Santa Clans, a role assumed by the Rev. leather F. A. Scifert of the K earns St. Ann's orphanage. A large electrically lighted Christmas tree was decorated for the entertainment of the children. Sunday school pupils look part in a Yule tide program, consisting of recitations recita-tions and songs, and "Silent Night" and "Come, All Ye Faithful, " were sung by all present. Nearly 700 attended the exercises. exer-cises. The entertainment was financed through the' work of the sodality, contributions con-tributions being made, by those interested inter-ested in the celebration. Trimmings for the Christmas tree were given by the Paris IMilhnery company. The sodality was aided in giving the celebration by the teachers of the "Sunday "Sun-day school of the church, and the program pro-gram was carried out under the direction of the Rev. Father James T. Toursney. The Christmas tree was decorated' by members of tiie sodality and members of the society also made t lie stockings for distribution and attended to o trier preparations. prep-arations.
