Show PLANS FOR OLYMPIC GAMES PROGRESSING ' NEW YORK, May 20. Preliminary arrangements ar-rangements for the holding of the Olympic Olym-pic games at Antwerp next year are rapidly rap-idly being completed, aocording to advices ad-vices from Belgium. Close to one million dollars has been subscribed and this sum will be increased during the next few months. Some of the larger donations to the fund are as follows: Belgian government, 1,600.000 francs; City of Antwerp, 800,000 francs; Antwerp province, 400,000 francs; firms and private pri-vate subscriptions 1,500,000 francs. At a recent meeting of the officials in charge of the details it was stated that the Berschoot stadium can be put in shape for the meet In September, 1920, at a comparatively small cost. It was decided de-cided that the games would be open to athletes of allied and neutral countries coun-tries only; Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria'and Turkey being barred. The track and field events will be contested con-tested In the Antwerp stadium, the wrestling and boxing matches in the great hall of the zoological, gardens and the rowing program in Brussels. The marathon race will be eliminated. |
