Show SILVER SILO CONDITION GOOD Showing Remains Satisfactory; Satisfac-tory; Lessees Only En-titled En-titled to Fissure Ore. Regarding the strike of ore at the Silver Sil-ver Shield mine this Week and the lease given last week, 11. fi. Joseph, manager ,of the property, stated that the strike was made Monday evening last after a round of shots had been firad,. In communicating com-municating with tho superintendent last Saturday nlg-hl. he was Informed by him that the raise looked the same as It did in the morning; that Is, there was no change and the fissure had about one foot of ore. which has been the condition since the raise was started some months ago. "At a meeting of the hoard of directors on November 14." said Mr. Joseph yesterday, yester-day, "a lease was given to the men who had a lease in another portion of the property from which they had been driven by water, on any ore encountered In the work, provided they would continue the raise and run a drift to connect with the surface work above mentioned, the ore which would belong to them being confined con-fined only to the limits of the raise and the drift. Saturday, November 21, the board was asked to modify the terms of the lease so that the men might drift fifty feet each way on the fissure from the raise on an increased royalty. "The board, on motion of Director R. E. Miller, seconded by Director and Secretary Sec-retary Cram, granted the modification to the Liberty Development company, which the lessees had formed in the meantime. The board, realizing that tho running of tho raise was very expensive and there being no visible means of income for the men out of any ore then In sight, granted the request at an increased royalty. "The company is driving a drift off the tunnel to Intercept the ore body encountered encoun-tered in the raise, and a recent survey has shown that it should not take many feet tp reach the ore If it continues on the pi toll indicated tn the raise. "The company is also ventilating some old workings where ore of a grade too low some years ago for shipment is exposed, ex-posed, but which will now bear shipment owing to increased price of metals, and applications for leases are now open. A carload of ore from tin3 new strike wi'J be shipped this coming week." |
