Show HUNS ARE PLAYING FOR BRITISH TRADE I Many Articles of German Manufacture, Including Toys, Are Arriving in London. LONDON. Nov. 29. (By the Associated Press ) The Germans arc making a very big effort to capture the British trade in certain articles. Already silk, cotton and other manufactured articles are arriving In large quantities. .Samples of German toys have also been received and it Is believed the object of the samples is to test the markets before risking delivery in bulk. Godfrey Chessman, general secretary of the National Union 6f Manufacturers, says: "Although the popular idea is that German Ger-man goods are still marked 'made In Germany.' there Is good reason to believe that enormous quantities of German-made goods are being shipped here through neutral neu-tral countries without anything to indicate indi-cate the country of origin." Mr. Chee!man suggests that to overcome over-come tho difficulty all foreign goods might be marked, "Not British manufacture." |
