Show Cardinal Has Confidence in Nation League BALTIMORE, July 2-1. Cardinal Gibbons today authorized the following statement with regard to his attitude toward the league of nations: "It is my firm conviction that after thorough and honest discussion in both houses of congress, both parties par-ties will finally arrive at a common agreement, based upon a just and sincere league of nations that will give vs a reasonable guarantee against the horrors of war In the future as well as well grounded assurance as-surance of lasting peace without ill any way impairing American sovereignty sov-ereignty or surrendering any American Amer-ican right, and without involving us in entangling alliances. I am sure that an oarJy adoption of the league of nations will infuse intense joy throughout the United States without with-out distinction of party, and will be hailed with satisfaction by the allied al-lied powers of Europe." |
