REORGANIZATION of the personnel per-sonnel of the staff of the United States Smelting, Refining Re-fining & Mining company following fol-lowing the death of Wr. G. Sharp, president of the company, and the retirement of Frederick Lyon, managing director, because of ill health, brings promotion, taking effect ef-fect September 15, to several local officials. of-ficials. George W. Heintz, general manager j of the local branch of the company, it is said, will spend most of his time at the general offices at Boston. Bos-ton. Definite announcement of Mr. Heintz's new capacity lias not been made, but it is understood that his sphere of activity will be greatly enlarged. en-larged. Clarence E. Allen, mine manager of the company, will advance to the position po-sition of general manager of local offices. of-fices. Mr. Allen has been a prominent promi-nent mine operator for more than a score of years. He is vice president of the Utah chapter of the American Mining Congress and has been active ac-tive in local and national mining circles. cir-cles. Oliver J. Egleston, chief engineer of Salt Lake headquarters, will become manager of the mine and smelter of the company at Kennett, Shasta county, coun-ty, California. L. D. Anderson, manager of the company's smelter at Midvale, will i become chief engineer. Mr. Anderson, Ander-son, before advancing to the position of manager, was assistant to the chief engineer and afterward superintendent superinten-dent of the Midvale smelter. W. A. Howard, assistant smelter manager and head of the ore-purchasing department of the company, will advance to the position of manager. Mr. Howard is a graduate of the University Uni-versity of Utah. D. D. Muir, Jr., will take the position posi-tion of manager of mines. Mr. Muir was formerly manager of the exploration explora-tion department of local headquarters. Later he was transferred to manage the company's zinc plant at Baxter Springs, Kan. |
