Show mm work Instruction in All Classes Will Begin Tonight at West High Building. Regular and continuous work in ail the classes of the Halt Lake evening school will begin 'tonight at the West high school, it was announced yesterday by J Fred Anderson, director of Americanization American-ization In evening schools for Salt Lake. Registration will continue, Mr. Anderson said, but arrangements have been made to attend to it without interference with the classes. Mr. Anderson reports that all the nationalities na-tionalities of alien residents have responded re-sponded to the nation's offer to give them instruction except the Italian and Mexican, and he wishes to call the attention atten-tion of these people to the fact that the law requires their attendance at the school if they are between the ages of 16 and 45 years, unless they have a command com-mand of the English language equivalent to that of a fifth grade pupil in the public j schools. Among the special classes that have been organized in addition to the regular work are automobile mechanics for women, forge work, shop mathematics, mechanical drawing, sheet metal drawing, draw-ing, architectural drawing. Spanish, French, cooking, sewing, commercial law, elementary and advanced English and journalism. Other work will be given If a sufficient number or students apply to warrant the employment of an instructor. instruc-tor. The school has access to one of the best equipped technical buildings In the i nt ermoun tain country, Mr. Anderson says, and is especially anxious to get more automobiles for the repair work. This work will be done free of charge and the workmanship will be guaranteed by the board as v. protection to the owners of the cars. Classes in the evening school arc held Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, 7 and 9 o'clock, at the West high building. |
