Show APPEAL MADE FOR PRACTICAL RELIGION "Practical Christianity is the only solution so-lution for the evils of the world today," said David O. McKay of the council of the twelve of the L. D. S. church in the opening session of tho Salt Lake stake quarterly conference held yesterday morning In Assembly hall. Apostle McKay Mc-Kay said that Christianity must be used practically in business and in educating educat-ing the foreigner in order to overcome ; the spirit of unrest. Apostle. McKay said that practical Christianity should be introduced into the' home. ".It is the doing of a thing ourselves our-selves that counts with our children. Teach by example rather than by words," the speaker said, i President Nephl L. Morris conducted J the conference. Reports of the various j auxiliaries of the stake were given at the .morning session by Edward J. Solomon, Solo-mon, superintendent of stake Sunday schools; Wilford A. Beesley, superintendent superinten-dent of the stake Y. M. M. I. A.: Miss 1 Mary Ida Kelt, president of the Y. L. M. I. A.; J. E. Opens-haw, superintendent of religion classes, and W. S. Rawlins, head i of the stake social committee, j The Seventeenth ward choir, under the direction of James S. .Xeilson. sang. Soloists assisting were Miss Ethelyn Walker. Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes. Mrs. James H. Neilson, Hyrum J. Christian-son. Christian-son. Mrs. Oonevieve H. Johnson and Professor Anthony C Lund. Miss Edna Coray was at tho organ. At the afternoon service in the tabernacle taber-nacle Colonel Willard Young gave an address ad-dress on "Intelligence and Salvation." President Charles W. Penrose was present. pres-ent. Miss Edna Gothberg sang a solo, and Mrs. J. AVood and Mrs. Minnie ( Eckard, assisted by the choir, sang the closing number. Tracy Y. Cannon was at the organ. An evening session was held in Assembly As-sembly hall. Mrs. Yilate N. Reunion, counselor in the Relief society stake presidency, and Mrs. Minnie Jackman of the stake primary spoke. A demonstration demonstra-tion of primary work was given by children chil-dren and the Relief society choir sang. |
